Dec. 14: National Taiwan University

National Taiwan University is the best university or college in Taiwan. Applying to college is a little different in Taiwan. When applying for undergrad, students must specify which institution and which major for which they would like to be considered, up to I think 150 spots. So I student might select NTU - Political Science as #1 and Political Science at another university as #2. However, for students who are more concerned about getting into a certain school They may specify #1 NTU - Political Science, #2 NTU -  Psychology and so on until something ridiculous like #99 NTU - Horticulture. So a lot of students end up at a prestige university but majoring in some BS discipline. It's quite different.
Around the campus the architecture is also a little bit different as the university was built by the Japanese. The main entrance onto the campus is an imposing street lined with palm trees along each side. Building on the campus look much more like the buildings you might see at American or European universities.

The campus of National Taiwan University is considered very large for Taiwan. While not nearly as big as Ohio State, for a big city where space is at a premium, the campus is decent-sized.

Students overwhelmingly ride bikes to their different classes. Nearly every street is lined with rakes and rakes of bicycles.  There are so many bikes around the campus it makes me wonder if that is even an efficient way to get from one building to another.
